Ian Fitzgerald

Ian is an experienced company director and adviser. Ian is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and holds a number of Governance roles across a range of organisations including the World of Wearable Arts, Niue Development Bank and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Trade Audit & Risk Committee.

As an adviser, Ian specialises in resolving complex organisational problems and supporting major negotiations.

Ian has held senior roles in the public and private sectors with management experience in a wide range of areas including change management, financial management, banking, human resources, information technology, operational risk, legal, internal audit and public relations.

John Duncan

John has extensive experience in global financial markets encompassing Treasury, Corporate Finance, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, M&A and Risk Management. Over a 35 year career he has worked both domestically and internationally taking senior leadership roles with a number of global investment banks, with the most recent being within Goldman Sachs.

John is currently the Director of the Hugh Green Group and continues to provide corporate finance and funding advice to a range of public and private sector companies and entities.

John also serves as Deputy Chair of Housing New Zealand Corporation.

Kevin Murphy

Public Trust Board Member since February 2020

Deputy Chair of the Risk Assurance Committee
Member of the People, Culture and Change Committee.

Kevin is an experienced managing director in the financial services industry, having spent 38 years with TSB, including 8 years combined as Managing Director and CEO. He retired from TSB in 2018.

He now has a portfolio of governance roles, including, SBS Bank, Finance Now and Adele Senior Living.

He is also a Board member for the Taranaki Rugby Football Union and the New Plymouth Operatic Society.

Kevin is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors.

He lives in New Plymouth and continues to be involved in numerous community groups providing governance support, or as an active participant.

Meleane Burgess

Public Trust Board Member since February 2020

Deputy Chair of the Risk Assurance Committee
Member of the People, Culture and Change Committee.

Meleane has extensive experience in advisory roles. She was previously part of an advisory group for the Ministry for Pacific Peoples and currently a member of the Pacific Reference Group for the Ministry of Social Development.

She is a council member of the University of Waikato and Future Director for NZ Post.

Meleane is also managing director of Dynamic Advisory, providing business advisory and tax compliance services.

Based in the Waikato, Meleane serves as Chairperson for the Board of Trustees for Hillcrest High School, Trustee on the Anglican Action Board and Te Tamawai Trust.

Anita Killeen

Public Trust Board Member Since July 2024

Anita is a Financial Services Barrister and Professional Director. She is the former Chief Prosecutor and Chief Legal Advisor of the Serious Fraud Office and holds a variety of governance roles in the legal, financial, NZX, local and central government and not for profit sectors including having served as Chair of the Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Board, Independent Non-Executive Director of General Capital Ltd, Deputy Chair of Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki Commercial Investment Board, Deputy Chair of NetSafe New Zealand, Independent Director of the Domain Name Commission, Director of UNICEF Aotearoa and Director of SPCA Auckland.

Anita is a member of the Institute of Directors and the New Zealand Law Society.

Karen Price

Public Trust Board Member Since July 2024

Chair of the Risk Assurance Committee.

Karen is an experienced independent director and board chair. Her governance career has spanned a range of sectors including structural and water engineering, architecture, electricity, adult education, environmental science, green energy certification, and horticulture. Karen is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a member of its board.

Excited by innovation, Karen chose a pioneering career in climate change over 30 years ago. She has advised many companies, their boards and several governments about their climate risks and how best to manage those.

Karen co-founded several successful private and public organisations – the NZ Society for Risk Management; the NZ Carbon Exchange Limited, and environment law firm ChanceryGreen.

Dr Harley Aish

Public Trust Board Member Since July 2024

Deputy Chair of the People, Culture and Change Committee
Member of the Risk Assurance Committee.

Harley is an experienced Director and practicing General Practitioner. He is a Member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners. He has held a variety of governance roles across the Health and Financial Services Industry, including Chair of Medial Assurance Society Group, Chair of ProCare Health Ltd,  Director of HBH, Director of Geneva Finance and Quest Insurance. These governance roles have included being committee member or Chair of Audit and Risk, Investment, People and Remuneration committees.

As a Director, Harley brings a unique mixture of experience across health and finance sectors, and brings a different perspective to the challenges organisations face in Aotearoa.

Matthew Harker

Public Trust Board Member Since July 2024

Matthew brings to Public Trust extensive commercial and governance experience and a deep commitment to community development and improved service delivery. He has held senior roles in New Zealand and the UK across health, accessibility, social and community housing, and aged care sectors.

Matthew’s other governance roles include Kāinga Ora’s Construction Programme Advisory Panel, Plunket New Zealand, West Auckland Trust Services, Beachlands South, Be. Lab, Te Toi Mahana and the NZ Optimist Dinghy Association.

Based in Auckland, he is a senior leader with proven experience of successfully working closely with boards, stakeholders and executive teams. Matthew has a background in corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions in the UK.

Glenys Talivai

Chief Executive Officer

Glenys joined Public Trust as CEO on 18 March 2019.

She is a highly regarded executive with significant leadership experience in the financial services sector. Past roles include General Manager – Customer Acquisition, Retention and Claims at Tower Insurance, as well as senior leadership positions at ANZ and the Medical Assurance Society.

She also served as Deputy Chair at the New Zealand Institute of Management and was the winner of the Young Executive of the Year at the Deloitte Top 200 awards in 2012.

Chris East

Chief Information Officer

Chris was appointed as the Chief Information Officer for Public Trust in June 2020.

Chris has previously spent 11 years working at the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), most recently in the role of Chief Advisor to the CEO. His other roles at the DIA have been as Acting Deputy CEO (Corporate Services) where he was responsible for leading a team of over 400 spanning finance, HR, ICT, property, communications, information management and security.

He also held the role of Chief information Officer at the DIA for four years with responsibility for the department’s technology strategy and delivery.

Chris's cross functional experience along with his strong leadership and ability to shape positive working environments is hugely valuable.

David Callanan

General Manager, Corporate Trustee Services

David joined Public Trust as Chief Risk Officer in September 2019, before taking over as the General Manager of our Corporate Trustee Services team in 2022. David has previously been Chief Risk Officer at Tower for more than 3 years, where his team oversaw risk, compliance, legal and governance for the Tower group.

Prior to this, he was Chief Risk Officer at RACQ Insurance in Australia. He also spent 4 years at PwC in Australia and London and worked for the Citibank-State Street joint venture CitiStreet Australia for 6 years prior to that. David brings a wealth of energy and expertise to the team.

Andrew Bhimy

Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer

Andrew has extensive experience overseeing strategy and change activities across our organisation. He joined Public Trust in August 2019 as our General Manager People and Strategy and was seconded to his new role as Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer in May 2024 to lead the next phase of our transformation journey.  Andrew is passionate about helping us achieve our goals through our people. Andrew is an experienced senior leader who has held executive roles across diverse sectors. Before joining us he was the Executive General Manager, People and Culture at the Manukau Institute of Technology. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with The Warehouse Group in a range of senior HR related roles.

Vanessa Dudley

General Manager Retail Customers

Vanessa joined Public Trust in November 2020 and is based in our Wellington office. She leads the company’s retail business, which is responsible for delivering exceptional experiences through the Customer Centres and specialised support functions throughout New Zealand.

Vanessa’s most recent role was CEO of Healthcare New Zealand, a privately owned nationwide organisation committed to helping New Zealanders live as independently as possible.

Vanessa’s inclusive and dynamic leadership along with her proven executive experience leading large, diverse frontline retail teams and contact centres make her a great fit for the role of GM Retail at Public Trust.

Lyndsey Francis

General Manager Marketing & Digital

Lyndsey joined Public Trust in June 2022 as GM Marketing & Digital. Lyndsey has over 20 years’ advertising and marketing experience working in media agencies in both the UK and New Zealand as well as at TVNZ. Her most recent role was as Director, Marketing at autonomous crown entity Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission where she spent the last 4 years focusing on supporting the financial capability of New Zealanders through the Sorted brand.

Amanda Livingstone

General Manager of Investments

Amanda came to Public Trust in April 2022 as Head of Investments, joining the Executive as GM Investments in November 2022.

With deep experience in financial services in both in New Zealand and Australia, Amanda has held executive positions at BT Financial Group in Sydney, where she was Head of Consultant Relations, and several roles at Westpac in New Zealand, covering investments and advice, mergers and project management. At Morningstar Research Limited, Amanda was Manager Research, conducting investment fund research on a wide range of investment funds trans-Tasman. In addition, Amanda has been a consultant, specialising in wealth management, integration and regulatory change.

Most recently, Amanda was a Director of Mint Asset Management Limited, where she chaired the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. She is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.

She has a personal passion for supporting the financial well-being of others – values that strongly align to Public Trust’s purpose of empowering all New Zealanders to build and protect their legacies.

Brad Edley

Chief Financial and Risk Officer

Brad joins Public Trust from his most recent role as Chief Operating Officer at the FMA where his broad remit included responsibility for finance, ICT, project management office, business planning and analysis, risk management and strategic planning and forecasting. 

In his six years with the FMA, he also worked closely with their Board of directors, particularly their risk and audit committee.

Prior to his time at the FMA, Brad was Chief Financial Officer at the NZX listed technology provider, Finzsoft Solutions and he has held a number of other executive leadership and director roles throughout his career.

Brad St Clair

GENERAL MANAGER LEGAL AND GOVERNANCE

Brad was appointed as Public Trust’s General Manager Legal and Governance in December 2022, although he has been with us since 2015 when he joined as a senior corporate solicitor. He has since held a variety of positions at Public Trust, including the leadership of our corporate legal, procurement and property teams, and as Board Secretary.

Before joining Public Trust, Brad worked in Australia across a range of federal government organisations. He has extensive experience in providing high quality advice on both corporate and commercial legal issues and helping Public Trust navigate the complex regulatory and governance landscapes that exist as a Crown entity. Brad is a Chartered Company Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional.

Leona Cheffins

General Manager People and Culture

Leona joined Public Trust as General Manager People and Culture in July 2024 with Andrew Bhimy’s secondment to Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer.  She is passionate about supporting our people be their best.

Leona’s an experienced HR leader with a strong background in supporting people and organisations to create value in a changing world.  She started out her career as a finance and strategy consultant before focusing on people and organisational development. She comes to us direct from insurer IAG New Zealand, and she’s previously helped the likes of Vodafone, PWC and Kantar build high performance culture and capability.
